Contact Lenses
Find the right fit for your eyes at Front Range Eye Associates.
Do you need vision correction but don’t want to wear eyeglasses full time? Contact lenses are a great option for almost anyone.
We offer a wide selection at our Broomfield office, and our experienced team of eye care professionals can help you find the right contacts for you.
What are my options?
There are many contact lens options available. Your eye care provider will take your lifestyle and vision correction needs into consideration when helping you select the right lenses for your eyes.
- Scleral Contact Lenses – Scleral lenses are large-diameter, gas-permeable lenses that vault over the entire cornea and rest on the white of the eye, creating a cushion of fluid that keeps the eye consistently hydrated. They're often recommended for patients with keratoconus, irregular corneas, post-surgical complications, or chronic dry eye who haven't found relief or clear vision with standard contacts. The result is exceptional comfort paired with sharp, stable vision. Because these are highly customized, sophisticated lenses, our providers are specially trained in scleral lens fitting to ensure the best possible outcome for each patient.
- Hard contact lenses – Hard contact lenses are rigid gas permeable. This means that they are porous enough to allow oxygen to enter through to the cornea. Hard contact lenses keep their shape on the eye. As such, they are sometimes recommended to curb the progression of nearsightedness in younger wearers.
- Soft contact lenses – Soft contact lenses are popular because they are very comfortable for the wearer. Soft contact lenses don't "pop out" the way hard lenses occasionally might. Soft lenses are appropriate to correct near and farsightedness and astigmatism.
- Disposable soft contact lenses – Disposable soft lenses are made from a flexible, water-containing material designed for consistent comfort and easy handling. Available in daily, biweekly, and monthly replacement schedules, they're an excellent option for patients who want the convenience of a fresh lens on a regular basis along with reduced risk of buildup or irritation. Daily disposables in particular offer superior hygiene and comfort, as a brand-new lens is used every day. Our providers will help determine the replacement schedule and lens material best suited to your prescription, lifestyle, and eye health.
- Extended wear contact lenses – Extended wear lenses are made from highly breathable materials that allow for continuous wear, including overnight, for up to a week or longer depending on the specific lens and your provider's recommendation. They're a good fit for patients who want the freedom of not having to remove and reinsert lenses daily, such as those with active lifestyles or difficulty handling lenses. Because continuous wear carries a higher risk of complications than daily wear, our providers carefully evaluate each patient's eye health and monitor wear schedules closely to ensure lenses are worn safely.
- Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Lenses – RGP lenses are rigid, oxygen-permeable lenses that hold their shape on the eye, providing exceptionally crisp and stable vision. They're often recommended for patients with astigmatism, higher prescriptions, or corneal irregularities that aren't fully corrected with standard soft lenses. Because they retain their shape, RGP lenses can also offer sharper optics than soft lenses for many patients. While they typically require an adjustment period, our providers are experienced in fitting RGP lenses and will guide you through the process to ensure lasting comfort and clear vision.
- Multifocal Contact Lenses (Soft & Rigid) – Multifocal lenses correct presbyopia, the age-related loss of near focusing ability, by incorporating multiple vision zones into a single lens for clear sight at near, intermediate, and far distances. Soft multifocal lenses offer a comfortable, easy-to-adapt option for everyday wear, while rigid gas permeable multifocals provide sharper, more precise optics for patients who need enhanced visual clarity. Multifocal designs are also available to correct astigmatism alongside presbyopia. Fitting multifocal lenses requires careful attention to each patient's visual needs and lifestyle, and our providers have the experience to find the design that works best for you.
- Hybrid Contact Lenses (SynergEyes) – Hybrid lenses combine a rigid gas permeable center with a soft peripheral skirt, offering the crisp optics of a rigid lens with the comfort of a soft lens. They're an excellent option for patients with astigmatism, irregular corneas, or keratoconus who want sharper vision than soft lenses can provide, without the awkward fit of a standard rigid lens. Because hybrid lenses are custom fit for each patient's eye, the fitting process takes time and often a few follow-up visits to fine-tune. Our providers are experienced with SynergEyes hybrid lenses and will work closely with you to achieve a fit that's both comfortable and effective.
- Daily wear contact lenses – Most contact lenses are daily wear. That is they are worn all day and then removed at night for cleaning. These lenses generally last until their given expiration date, at which point they must be discarded and replaced because the lens material begins to break down.
- Colored contact lenses – Colored contact lenses allow patients to enhance or completely change their natural eye color while also correcting their vision, if needed. They're available in a range of tints and patterns, from subtle enhancement to a fully opaque color change, and can be fit with or without a vision-correcting prescription. As with any contact lens, proper fitting and hygiene are essential for comfort and eye health. Our providers will ensure your colored lenses fit properly and are safe for regular wear, whatever look you're going for.
Myopia Management Contact Lenses
Myopia management uses specially designed contact lenses to help slow the progression of nearsightedness in children and teens, rather than simply correcting it. We offer two proven approaches: MiSight® soft daily lenses, worn during the day like traditional soft contacts, and orthokeratology (ortho-k) lenses, rigid lenses worn overnight that gently reshape the cornea so patients see clearly without any correction during the day. Both options work by changing how light focuses at the periphery of the retina, which has been shown to slow the elongation of the eye responsible for worsening myopia. Because managing myopia requires careful monitoring and a customized approach for each child, our providers have many years of experience fitting these lenses and guiding families through successful myopia management.
